Coming from Europe, the sheer distance to Hawaii was astonishing. Flying over endless ocean for hours, I realized just how remote these islands are — isolated in the vast Pacific, far from any continent. The remoteness was striking, but so was the landscape. Lush rainforests, rugged coastlines, and volcanic craters made it clear that nature here follows its own powerful rhythm. One of the most memorable moments was hiking Mauna Kea, Hawaii’s highest peak at 4,207 meters. The altitude made every step challenging, but reaching the summit, surrounded by telescopes scanning the universe, was a quiet and surreal experience.
